is a Mechanical/Chemical Engineer with 40 plus years in the converting industry. He has woorked for such companies as Ampex, RCA, & Kodak. He has owned his own business for the past twenty years, designing, building and installing coating machines for the production of varied products.
He has been the lead consultant for several multi-milion dollar turn key factories for the production of magnetic tape. The machinery involved was chemical dispersion, coating, drying, winding, slitting & QC. He was resident in several countries to accomplish these; such as the UK, Australia, Malaysia, India, & Japan.
Present products made by his company is the design and building of slot dies and slot die coaters for various customers. These are highly accurate dies for coating products such as striping tape, coated abrasives, PSA's silicone release coatings, photographic film scratch resistant coatings & conductive carbon coatings. For some of these the chemical formulation was developed and provided to the customer.
Coated widths have been for one inch for the photographic film to 24 inches. Typical standard sizes are 6", 13", 19", & 24". Speeds of coating have ranged from 20 to 2,000 feet per minute.
Several bench top coating lines have been produced. These are 6"/12" lines capable of 5 to 100 feet per minute.
